Her dance reflects her wide range of dance influences, and she enjoys getting a little weird and creative.
Shelby has been dancing professionally for over a decade, specializing in Hip Hop. She graduated from Sonoma State with an Honorable Distinction for her B.A. in Theatre Arts & Dance, where she both choreographed & performed, diving deeper into Contemporary and Heels. Yoga Therapy, Indian Festival Dance
Bhavana Mody began practicing yoga as a way to re-connect with her Indian roots. In 2005, she received her 200hr certification from Greenpath Yoga and has since studied, practiced & taught various styles/combinations. In 2018, Bhavana completed her 800 hour Yoga Therapist certification with the Niroga Institute where she learned skills to work with individuals/groups challenged with osteoporosis, cancer, heart problems, Parkinson’s, depression and other chronic conditions. Bhavana has been teaching for over 15 years, is a certified yoga therapist (C-IAYT), and is currently working to bring more movement-based mindfulness programs into public schools. She works to ensure that her classes are accessible and welcoming for people of all backgrounds (and can instruct in Spanish when needed). In addition to the yoga, Bhavana loves to share other aspects of her Indian culture, including folk dances such as garba, bhangra, and even Bollywood dance! As a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant since 1994, Anna has been working for over 30 years primarily in rehab and home therapy training. Her main focus includes training patients for pain & stress management with breath-focused movement training. Anna has been a Certified Massage Therapist since 2005 and recently became a Certified Yoga Instructor under local instructor Elias Gaitan in 2021. Sky grew up as a competitive gymnast and cheerleader before falling in love with dance in college. She has studied numerous styles including ballet, jazz, contemporary, modern, hip hop, salsa, and African. Sky has been coaching gymnastics, cheer, and dance for over 10 years. She loves choreographing and merging styles of dance. She has had the privilege of performing with Savage Jazz and PUSH dance companies. She is currently performing with eMotion Arts dance company. Sky has had her dancing featured in short films and advertisements such as FitBit and Daroo. She continues to train in and teach this humble art form in addition to pursuing her other passions of acting and music, having recently released her debut EP titled Juke to my Uke. Currently working on her media presence after a 5yr break from fitness instruction in the Bay Area with a dance company there, when LaShante decided start a family it seemed like the end of her dance career but eventually that decision forced her to realize her talent in dance & fitness instruction – and now she’s back in the game at Cotati Moves!!
Evan graduated from Ashiyana Yoga School in Goa, India in 2020, receiving his 200hr certification in Ashtanga-based instruction. Evan offers his donation-based Earth Moves classes each week at Cotati Moves - a slower practice of listening to our bodies, finding our soft strength and flow.
